Lightbox Expo 2021 – the best entertainment arts event is back

Lightbox Expo 2021

It’s time to get excited for Lightbox Expo 2021, which is happening 100% online again this year! Last year, in response to the pandemic they shifted everything online and saw a huge turnout. The event brings together some of the best in the industry to share their knowledge and expertise, then makes space for people to connect and draw together as well. Take a look at the trailer for the upcoming event…

Artists and schedule items to look forward to…

There is so much to look forward to on the schedule for Lighbox Expo 2021. Whether you are into animation, creature design, 3D, environments, storyboarding, Lightbox covers it all.

Dave Greco will be there talking about creating characters for video games.
Iris Compiet, Victoria Ying and others will be doing a presentation on visual storytelling through illustrations.
Iain McCaig, Armand Baltazar, and Paul Tobin discuss forging your artistic journey.
Ahmed Aldoori will take you through his process of creating fantasy and sci-fi illustrations.

And there is so much more! See the full list of participants for the Artist Alley and schedule items over on the Lightbox Expo 2021 website. Below is a recent stream with co-founder of Lightbox

Artist Alley @ Lightbox Expo

I was so curious to see how the virtual artist alley would work. Pretty much it’s like Google Streetview though inside a virtual venue with artist booths. At each booth you’ll find links to artist portfolios, also their online stores, and sometimes free and discounted content too.

Lightbox Expo 2021 Pricing and all…

There’s a good range of pricing tiers making access to the event as affordable as possible to the widest possible group. Access to the even and the dedicated Discord server starts at only $2. If you wat to spend more, then there’s the goodie bag and merch that you can get your hands on.

Speaking of the LBX goodie bag…

The digital goodie bag contains a whole bunch of things from wallpapers and brushes to discount coupons for drawing tablets and art courses. A few thing I’m already enjoying…

The RossDraws Bootcamp session on portraits which includes a brush pack of his.

A few phone wallpapers of artworks by Karla Ortiz.

A 3-part Proko class and reference pack for drawing the torso.

An art book for Baobab Studios’ animated film, Namoo.

A showcase of participants in the Nickelodeon Artist Program

Draw together in Magma Studio

At Lightbox expo last year, the online drawing app Magma Studio was released. There will be a bunch of hangouts as part of the schedule where top artists draw and chat together. You’ll be able to open up your own canvas and invite people over on the Discord server to join in.

See you there!
