Magic The Gathering Art Prints – First Friday Five – FEB 2021

First Friday Five for February 2021 features the art prints of five artists that were done for Magic The Gathering

So for the second First Friday Five, I want to feature artists doing work for Magic The Gathering and have art prints available. MTG is often a goal for a lot of digital artists, and for good reason. The art for the game is incredible and part of what makes new packs so exciting. It inspires so many to put paint to canvas.

The first two artists, I specifically wanted to aim the spotlight at after listening to a great podcast with the two of them chatting about art, games, the entertainment arts industry, and Magic The Gathering.

Karla Ortiz

Karla Ortiz, an American award-winning artist that has worked with some of the biggest companies in the entertainment arts industry including, Marvel Film Studios, ILM, HBO and Wizards Of The Coast, to name but a few.

This piece is from MTG’s Dragon’s Maze titled Teysa, Envoy of Ghost. You can find prints available HERE.

Karla also streams her oil painting over on Twitch, which is a pleasure to watch. Become one of her OilyFans…

Paul Canavan

Another award-winner, Paul-Scott Canavan is an illustrator and concept artist from Edinburgh, Scotland. He’s done work for Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeons and Dragons and Magic The Gathering, Games Workshop, Blizzard, and Riot.

Be sure to catch him on Twitch and paint along with him during his Study Buddies stream.

And see my recent post with more of his work over here.

Randy Vargas

A Cuban sci-fi and fantasy illustrator living in Barcelona, Spain, Randy Vargas has done work for clients such as WotC, Riot Games, and Valve Corporation.

This Kangees Lieutenant was done for Commander Legends. You can buy prints of it here, along with other art he’s done for Magic The Gathering.

You can further support the artist by joining him over on Patreon. Subscribers get exclusive content including behind the scenes, W.I.P. shots, layered PSDs and brushes.

Martina Fačková

Return Upon the Tide, the piece below, was done for done for Magic the Gathering´s recent Kaldheim release. Prints of it are available here.
